Why merchants switch
Three reasons shops leave Square Loyalty
Works with any POS, not just Square
If you ever leave Square — or just want flexibility — Square Loyalty leaves with it. Loop Customer is wallet-pass + QR, so the loyalty layer survives whatever you do with your register.
Flat pricing, not per-location
Square charges $45-$105/mo per location. Loop Customer's Multi-shop ($79/mo) covers 5 locations and Chain ($149) covers 25, with a Free tier for a single counter.
Real Apple + Google Wallet passes
Square Loyalty is a phone-number lookup tied to a Square sale. Loop drops a designed wallet pass into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from a QR scan — visible to the customer between visits.

What Square Loyalty does better
If you run your business entirely on Square POS, Square Loyalty's tight integration is genuinely convenient — points accrue automatically at the Square sale, no separate scan needed. The data and the loyalty live in the same place. Square is also a Fortune 500 company with the support and uptime budget that comes with it. If you have no intention of leaving Square, the path of least resistance is to stay on Square Loyalty.

Questions about switching from Square Loyalty
Can I migrate my Square Loyalty customer list?
Yes. Square exports your loyalty members from Dashboard → Loyalty → Customers → Export. Upload the CSV during Loop Customer onboarding and existing members keep their stamp/point progress via email + phone-number match.
Do I have to leave Square POS to use Loop Customer?
No — many merchants run both. Keep Square at the till for payments, run Loop Customer for the wallet stamp card. They don't conflict because Loop is POS-independent.
How does Loop Customer's pricing compare for 3 locations?
Square Loyalty would charge per location — roughly $135/mo at the entry tier for 3 shops. Loop Customer's Multi-shop plan is $79/mo flat for up to 5 locations.
Will my customers need to scan a new QR?
Yes, once. The first time they visit after the switch, they scan the new Loop QR and the loyalty pass goes straight into their Apple or Google Wallet. From that point on, the card updates itself.
Does Loop Customer charge extra fees on top of payments?
No. Loop Customer doesn't process payments at all — Square keeps doing that. Our subscription is the only fee, and there's a Free tier under it for a single counter.
